OK I’m Sad, Goodbye, Buddha Bless, Jimmy Carter

But Jimmy Carter, one of kindest people probably ever, made it to 100 years.

I remember watching the signing of the Camp David Accords how optimistic that felt. Being my age during the six day war, I so remember being scared another world war was coming. Well Jimmy Carter brokered that agreement.

My very much missed Father was a Habitat for Humanity volunteer. So streaming tonight video of Jimmy and Rosalynn with hammers pounding nails, hardhats on. How many families now have homes. They started that and with the leagues of community helpers including my Father, it goes on.

Politics were not always great to Jimmy Carter but his historical legacy will be way, way, better than good.

Far right gangs all over the world have made peace a scarcity for now but there still are decent people. It will get better. It has to get better.

Add Carter Center. With International Rescue Committee my end of year donations.

January 14, 2025. Editing. My NPR feed this morning included an archive photo of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter on stage with Willie Nelson. What a good start to Tuesday.

(I actually met Willie Nelson. Though not the Carters. I was volunteering at a nonprofit sign up and donation table at an outdoor mall in Austin and oh my goodness Willie Nelson walks up. I could not believe it. He signed up and left a very generous gift. There you go. Better angels.)
