Resistance

I don’t want the squatter messing with my life.

Bunch of bros (repulsive concept), high school, maybe, having access to my personal data. Don’t want them messing with my life.

Dems have been showing some spine. Outside Treasury Department. Now overnight Senate floor. Progressive Congressional Caucus this morning. “Get Off the Mat, Get In the Ring.” Democratic Women’s Caucus.

People are speaking. Congressional phone lines overwhelmed.

Fifty state protests. 5051.

Unionization rallies. Yay unions. Communication Workers of America, could not have collected data for my Ph.D. dissertation without their supporting my project.

A Day Without Immigrants. Good on the businesses which shuttered in solidarity with those who do the work. Bigots can’t get their guacamole today.

Good on Costco (where I’ve actually never shopped…did not need bulk things), for raising its minimum wage to a living wage and keeping DEI intact. Corporate ethics.

Boo Target for caving, going anti DEI. (I used to shop Target for one or a few items and then wander around, almost a seductive want-this-want-that. My rational brain prevailed and I would stick to my short list.) Target could resume DEI. It’s proper and humane.

Delta Airlines staying DEI. Good call.

I taught ethics at a big university in Austin. Categorical imperative versus utilitarianism. I pick number two. What is best for most.

Corporate ethics need more spine.

Lawsuits in progress. A few losses so far weird in chief. More will come. Good on courts for stays on the illegitimate power grabs. Make them permanent. Yay rule of law. For now.

Don’t dare touch PBS or NPR donors. The donors who essentially make CPB possible. (One of my very early professional jobs was with public media.) And I now never miss a Brooks and Capehart or Morning Edition.

Don’t dare touch independent journalism. I’m liking Mary Trump Media and the Bulwark right now. Some days, survival sanity.

Don’t touch National Archives. Treasury of intellectual and cultural history. Poorly educated idiots get your sticky stuff off.

Don’t touch the Kennedy Center with those disgusting chicken grease stained little fingers. You’re never going to be quality and it’s so obvious. Don’t stain the seats.

Started with USAID. Food and healthcare that this richest nation can well afford. Helping suffering and building good will for decades. Saving lives. Now employees in turmoil. And innocents will be lost.

Already three….three…plane crashes since January 20….not even a month…after the co-president fired the head of FAA and let go thousands of air traffic controllers. I’d be so very careful about setting my next flight until saner and more experienced people return after this disaster of puppet and puppet master has passed. We kind of need air traffic controllers who know what they’re doing unless we want to die in a crash.

Shut down of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Why. It’s near zero percentage of federal budget but it does help regular people dealing with financial predators without the resources for price-tag lawyer fees.

Mess with Social Security and Medicare, you’ve got one big uprising. Medicaid a little less, because in this place, 2025, poor people and their innocent children don’t have much voice. They do have advocates.

Veterans’ benefits. What kind of twisted mind would mess with that.

Over reach, indeed. Half the citizens loathe the current occupant of Casa Blanca. (Who did not win a landslide, instead squeaked by under fifty percent.) BTW, an inauguration is not a coronation. Remember the French Revolution.

Probably three fourths loathe the unelected, unvetted, unconfirmed, racist, fascist skunk messing with regular peoples’ lives. Polling under twenty five percent. That’s a bit of disgust.

Just stay informed by legitimate journalism. Sit up straight. Don’t slump. Stay healthy. Communicate with good people. Be kind. Work. Do whatever is constructive.
