There’s Hope

While cleaning, I streamed Bulwark. Really getting to like Bulwark which the algorithms figured that’s me. And feeds it to me. A conversation this morning with Tim Miller and Adam Kinzinger, who said to keep the fire lit. In bad times, stand strong.

Personal Hall of Heroes.

Bernie, of course. Mount Rushmore. I once stood outside in a very long line for hours with great, generous, friendly, not hateful people. We took it in stride. When the auditorium filled, he came out to those of us who couldn’t be seated, greeted us, shook our hands and thanked us for being there outside on a kind of cold rainy day. That kind of guy.

Still telling truth.

Elizabeth Warren. For speaking up. For regular people. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, her invention, saves any and all of us, from being scammed. What in the world could be wrong with that. (Unless you’re a predator.)

Jamie Raskin. He keeps working like heck to message and he’s so spot on. There are some not good things going on and he is on peoples’ side. He does such a media blitz, can’t imagine how exhausting, to help anyone who listens be aware and engaged if they are willing.

Jasmine Crockett. So fierce, so fiery, so honest. Gosh I wish I had that courage. I lived in Texas for most of my adult life, blue Austin not red Texas. Now back to the blue Illinois, Lincoln land, good Governor, good Senators, but sure would like a representative with Crockett’s voice.

Some encouraging media for somewhat discouraging times. Just a few from last night. Because this episodic sleeper, awake at the weirdest unpredictable hours, with a crazy cute kitten who gets me up when he’s antic at wrong times. I can get some things done and get my MSNBC and Bulwark overnight. Be calm, daylight will happen. Then get busy.

Well, Sam Cooke lyrics. A change is gonna come.

Bob Marley lyrics. Get up, stand up. For your rights. Don’t give up the fight.

Edwin Hawkins Singers. Oh happy day.

Jimmy Cliff. I can see clearly now.

Ari Melber. Rachael Maddow. Chris Hayes. Obviously so beyond smart. Always on the good side.

George Clooney with Colbert. Good Night and Good Luck. Edward R. Murrow. I come from a legitimate journalism background. So Edward R. Murrow was the North Star. His were bad times too. But he had the courage.

Clooney quotes.

“Fourth Estate. You have to be at your best when it’s a very dark time. You’re never at your best when it’s easy.”

“What I do hope is that you defend people with less power than you. And you go after people with more power than you.”

“If you do that, you’ve succeeded being on the right side of history.”
