Pretty Upbeat

Friday. It’s sunny and warmer, still. Doing the preparation for lot of positive things. It’s a list, but the right list.

Can I write yay Jasmine Crockett, who doesn’t know a thing about me…but somehow a text showed up this morning on my phone. Still get Beto texts. I thought he’d be pretty good for people. Algorithms.

A little MSNBC and Bulwark. More Bulwark.

And what can I write, John Oliver. I’m a fan girl. Serious substance and humor. Episode last week on tip economy…it’s a thing. Employers pay so much less than minimum wage, it’s 1920 pay. Less than 3.00 an hour. Me back home from too much hospital, the drivers that bring me groceries don’t get their time paid for, their gas paid for, their car payments paid for, their car insurance paid for. And they are really nice people. So I tip well. But the employers should be putting in decent wages and paying transportation expenses. I always got covered for my travel costs. Flights, hotels, restaurants, anything reasonable in my profession. BTW Oliver wove in some Magritte (Belgian, my heritage, “this is not a pipe”) and Stravinsky (Rite of Spring, one of my classical favorites, caused riots in Paris), Lord of the Flies (horrified me when made to read in high school) and Oliver Twist (“please sir may I have crust of bread.”)

Just a Friday afternoon.

Quinn the kitten calm for now. In his box with the crinkly sound paper. Or snoozing on my fresh clothing. Just a beautiful spring Friday afternoon.

Still reading Keynes Hayek. Who knew a book about differing economic policy could be so worth reading. I’m team Keynes. The Bloomsbury social democrat. Inspiration for my first hero, FDR. A wealthy society can care for its people. If it chooses to.

Daylight savings two days. Now one day. Now it’s here. I am happy. Longer days of sunlight. Who can not like that.
