I Love Mornings

My bedroom window faces east and all I can see are the big trees out there. They are magnificent, huge. It’s been mostly sunny lately with some calming storms at night. Coming into the right time of year. So very peaceful.

I get more serenity than a lot of men, women, and children do. And though I worry sometimes, I know it. I didn’t want to leave Austin but the neighbors here are great, adorable dogs and strollers and bikes and the high school running team down my road.

I’ve chose to make this while a kind of sabbatical, transition for me. I’d been in hospital for a while but very happy to now be in my own bed, my own kitchen, my own closet, my own desk. I had great medical care but it’s better to be home.

Quinn the kitten is learning how to behave. He used to wake me way too early but he finally figured out that I’m going to put a towel over my head until daylight so he can’t poke at me. (I do sometimes get up at 2:00 or 3:00 on my own and do some paperwork, needed, but I like sun better than dark). And I can throw plastic cat spirals for Quinn to jump and catch and slide across the floors. Bring them back to me. Rinse and repeat. Work out that kitten energy.

So this morning cleaning up. One step, next step. Papers in the right order, got to go through accounts and passwords. Fix LibreOffice. It’s doing some weird stuff.

Got my audio working consistently again. Can do MSNBC and Bulwark to my heart’s content.

Later today making gumbo. I’m off meat, but, okra, tomatoes, onions, blackeye peas, maybe some rice, and whatever seasonings I have here. That’s the concept of gumbo.
