Neighbors

This feels a little, or a lot, personal but so what. It’s my blog and I can write what I want. I do need to get back to professional work Monday morning.

But. The cliche macro talk currently is about division and (gosh I’m sick of this word) “polarization.”

Of course that’s there. But. People still are kind also.

Just this evening a young couple and their adorable son were so good to me, beyond patient and generous.

Should have stayed in but stubbornly went out to walk and take some photos.

They saw I was about to faint on the street and took their own family time to help me get back home. My little kitten Oliver met their son (who, I think, liked the cat…he reached out and laughed).

The “gratitude platitude” is overdone, but maybe not without some merit and probably mostly sincere. I’ve had a little bit rough couple transition years (but honestly with comparative privilege). So many people have helped me…just being nice…from the Boka Shoppe in Monticello (delivered my Mom a very pretty floral arrangement) to the YMCA (who drove me home when I had awful leg cramps in the pool) and yes, Central Market fixers (who delivered my vegetables and mini scones) in Austin. Merit Coffee across the street and its people energy. Urban Betty on 38th where Caitlyn fixed my COVID-home-crop-chop (on second appointment after I’d been ill first one.) And the staff, and fellow flat dwellers…and cutest ever dogs…and no allergy problems..where I now live.

My so, so very generous family.

And neighbors.
